What is a sagra?
A Sagra (Plural Sagre) is a cross between a harvest festival, a country fair and a block party. Sagre are held throughout northern Italy all year long, and are usually themed by the primary dishes served. ("Sagra di Fungi Porcini," "Sagra della Rigatoni," etc) They are advertised with neon-colored signs along roadways, and occur over a period of one or two weeks. There's no better way to experience rural Italian culture! You'll dine, you'll dance, you might take a chance on a game of Tombola (similar to Bingo) or a variety of other amusements that can include street performers, live music, and magicians. Not to be missed!
