Close to the city, close to the sea

The Province of Lucca, while not as heavily marketed as the areas further south, offers an incredible experience to the sophisticated traveler. The weather is more temperate than you might imagine in the summer, owing to our hilltop location and proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. While July and August still see very hot days, the evenings are generally very comfortable and breezy.

The larger towns closest to us—Pietrasanta and Camaiore, each about a 20 minute drive—both offer a great deal of history, art, and shopping just minutes from the house. There is an annual Puccini festival each summer close by which is not to be missed. Lucca, which is much larger than either of the aforementioned towns, lies about 30 minutes from our house, is encircled by a medieval wall and features winding streets, beautiful churches, endless gastronomic and shopping possibilities, and some fine art and music options.

Slightly further afield, both Florence (60 minutes to the southeast) and the Cinque Terre (75 minutes to the northwest) are popular day trips with our guests. Our location enables easy access to two major autostradas, the entry points to which are just a 15 minute drive. Viareggio offers convenient train service for travelers.
